KENOSHA – Robert Alfred Marcella, 87, of Kenosha, WI passed away peacefully on Sunday December 12, 2021. He was born October 17, 1934 to John Marcella and Catherine (Burcar) Marcella in Gladstone, Michigan. On January 21, 1984, he was united in the holiest marriage with Theresa (Terry) Kollman in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was a proud veteran of the military who served from 1958 to 1960.

Robert will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 37 years, Terry Marcella, his children, Robert J. (Rachel) Marcella and Caroline A. (Michael) Sullivan; his grandchildren, Charles, Joséphine and Olivia; brother-in-law, Peter (Nancy) Kollman, and his many great-great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Walter, Rudy and John Marcella; her sisters, Joséphine Nelson and Dolores Owens; nephews, Robert Nelson and Douglas Owens and stepmother, Anna Kollman.

His early years were spent working on the family farm in Gladstone, Michigan. He graduated from Escanaba High School in 1953. After serving in the military, he attended UW Stout where he obtained his Bachelor of Industrial Arts and later his Masters in Educational Administration at UW-Milwaukee. .

For many years Robert taught industrial arts at Bradford High School and Gateway Technical College, before retiring in 1999. Robert’s great passion after retirement was watercolor painting. He spent many hours taking lessons and perfecting his craft. His award-winning paintings have been shown at the annual exhibitions of the Wisconsin Watercolor Association, the Pollard Gallery and the Lemon Street Gallery. His other hobbies included reading, gardening, and challenging his mind with Sudoku puzzles.

Robert loved spending time with his family but especially with his grandchildren. He will be missed by his dinner club friends, his breakfast buddies and his group of retired Gateway teachers.

Funeral services honoring the life of Robert will be held on Friday December 17, 2021. A Christian funeral mass will be celebrated at noon at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 2224 45th Ave. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Memorial Parking. A visitation for Robert will take place on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Piasecki Funeral Home. The mask will be compulsory during visits and mass.
